About Us

North Acres Baptist Church was founded by Rev. James Edward Spencer in 1954. The church is currently in its third building. The first two sanctuaries were in the area where the present Lowe's store is in Isaiah's landing close to the intersection of Mall Road and Millertown Pike. The church has been in its present location since 2001.

We are a congregation that is affiliated with the Knox County Baptist Association, Tennessee Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention. We place a primacy on the expository preaching of the Bible and have a good blend of hymns and praise music.

Vision Statement

We believe that our purpose in existing as a New Testament Church is four fold: Worship, Evangelism, Discipleship and Service. Each of these is critical to the health and effectiveness of our congregation and to neglect one is detrimental to each of the others. By engaging in these core principals we believe that God is honored, sinners are rescued and believers are brought to further maturity in the Kingdom of God to whom all glory is given.

Worship – We are created to worship and we will continue to worship for all eternity. Therefore, our primary responsibility as the body of Christ and as individuals is to worship God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit beginning now and continuing throughout all eternity. This is to be exemplified and enabled not only in corporate worship but in the believer’s personal life as they live in the world.

Evangelism – We wish to engage as many people as possible in worshiping the True and Living God. The only way to enable these individuals to worship is to lead them into a relationship with Jesus Christ that transforms their lives into Holy Spirit filled followers of Jesus. It is the responsibility of all believers to go just as Jesus has commanded us and make disciples of all the nations.

Discipleship –
To teach believers to understand the condition of fallen man, the eternal attributes of the Godhead and the believers new life in Jesus Christ through teaching the whole counsel of scripture. Through discipleship, the believer will understand their desperate need for the continued presence of God in their life and establish the reliability and authority of the Bible as the foundation for truth in their lives.

Service –
Mobilize the Saints to show forth the love of Christ through serving others in our church body and in the community at large. Just as worship, service should be encouraged to be not only an act of the church body but a hallmark of the believer’s life as they show charity to those they encounter on a daily basis.
